What is Hybrid Work?

A new report from Accenture (NYSE: ACN) shows that while 88% of companies finally have a clear picture of the challenges they face today, only 6% are completely confident in their current abilities to foresee and respond to future disruption.

Eighty-two percent of workers said they would prefer a blend of office and remote work, according to the 2016 survey by Harvey Nash. This stat has come into sharper relief given the effects of the global pandemic. The motivation for this preference is understandable since many organizations are struggling to retain their best talent due to the increasingly competitive job market. But the good news is that recent research has found that companies can overcome retention challenges by making more distance work opportunities available to professionals.

Implications - Why is hybrid work becoming more popular?

Companies that are looking to produce higher quality work, improve employee retention rates and reduce overhead costs should consider adopting a hybrid work environment. The fact of the matter is that if you are not willing to accommodate this reimagining of the mode of work, you will not be able to compete for talent in the same way a competitor who has accounted for this new altered reality.

Getting hybrid right will be challenging. Deciding who works from the office and how often is a complex issue, and it will be different for every organization. You must look at the threats as well as the opportunities to the organization’s culture, collaboration, and innovation.
